scholaRLY Cohort #1:
Meet The Youth Peer Researchers (YPRs)
.png)
Why YPRs?
"Peer research is a participatory research method in which people with lived experience of the issues being studied take part in directing and conducting the research. It aims to move away from the ‘extractive’ model of social research and to empower people to affect positive change by participating in research and in their own communities. Peer researchers (also referred to as ‘community researchers’) use their lived experience and contextual understanding of a social or geographical community to help generate information about their peers for research purposes".

What Are We Researching?
Our YPRs are researching a range of topics - from psychology, computer science, engineering, and the medical sciences. From January to February 2023, they completed independent systematic literature reviews on their topic of interest. As of April 2023, our YPRs are undergoing the 2nd stage of revisions on these papers, and are preparing to publish under The City of Toronto and The Flaunt It Movement's Issue #2 Visual Anthology. Until then, we're excited to share the research questions guiding their literature reviews and highlight the talents of our YPRs.
